Oklahoma could learn something from Texas about improving schools
Reading the news daily often leads to surprising revelations with just a little research. This week, as local and state leaders navigate the river of issues flooding Oklahoma’s public schools - some that just came to light this month - substantive discussions were held this week in interim studies by legislators and the monthly State Board of Education meeting.
In researching some of those topics, I saw an article headlined, “We’re not Houston” about the Texas Education Agency (TEA) taking control of the Fort Worth Independent School District because of five consecutive years of F scores.
What I found on the TEA website highlights how much Oklahoma has to learn about accountability and school improvement going forward. Read my full analysis of the data here. Let me know any questions! - Thanks - WSP
